La Troupe at COTERIE New York: Our First U.S. Show
Our first COTERIE New York was about much more than presenting a collection. It was an opportunity to bring La Troupe into a new conversation, connect with the international fashion industry and begin imagining new destinations for a story that remains deeply connected to Mexico.
This September, La Troupe arrived at COTERIE New York for the first time. More than presenting a collection in a new city, it meant entering a different conversation: meeting buyers, boutiques and international industry professionals face to face, sharing who we are, and discovering how far our world can travel beyond the place where it began.
What did our first COTERIE mean to us?
Preparing for a first show involves much more than bringing a collection.
It means choosing the pieces that best express who you are, thinking about how to present the brand outside its usual context, and learning how to tell its story in just a few minutes to someone who may be discovering La Troupe for the first time.
New York gave us exactly that opportunity.
We brought with us a way of creating that is deeply connected to Mexico: fluid silhouettes, textiles, embroidery, artisanal work and pieces designed to accompany different ways of living and dressing.
But we also arrived ready to listen.
There are moments when a brand does not simply arrive in a new place. It discovers how far its story can travel.
Presenting La Troupe in New York
COTERIE gave us the opportunity to present the brand outside its usual landscape and to see how our pieces are read in a different context.
Meeting buyers and industry professionals allowed us to talk about the garments, but also about origin, craft and the way La Troupe understands dressing: with freedom, sensitivity and attention to detail.
A show like this is not only about presenting product. It is about building relationships, listening to questions and discovering what sparks curiosity when someone enters the La Troupe universe for the first time.
A first show with support around us
There is something especially important when you are doing something for the first time: feeling that you do not have to figure everything out alone.
From the beginning, the COTERIE team made us feel supported and at ease. For us, that made the experience much more human and allowed us to arrive at our first show with the confidence to learn, observe and enjoy the process.
We especially want to thank Stephanie Monnet and Edgar Irizarry, who connected us with COTERIE and helped make this first step possible.
Our first COTERIE began with a connection. We hope it is the beginning of many more.
What we brought home from New York
We came away with conversations, questions, new perspectives and the certainty that presenting a brand away from home is also a way of seeing it again.
We saw our pieces in another context.
We heard how other people interpreted them.
We shared the origin of La Troupe with people who were discovering us for the first time.
And we confirmed something that is part of the chapter we are building: La Troupe can grow into new markets without losing the intimacy, craft and sensitivity that are part of its origin.
From Mexico to New York, and onward
Our first COTERIE does not represent a final arrival.
It represents a beginning.
A new conversation for La Troupe, an opportunity to meet new cities and new people, and another step toward bringing our world to new destinations.
Mexico remains the origin.
The world begins to feel a little closer.
