The Ruana Eden is a unisex one-size layer woven in soft 100% cotton yarn using the ancestral backstrap-loom technique. Its enveloping drape lets the textile settle freely around the body and preserves the intimate feeling of a piece constructed by hand.
Embroidered flower appliqués are added over the woven base, introducing relief, color and concentrated visual points. The appliqués do more than decorate the surface: they alter its texture and create small zones of greater thickness against the more continuous cotton weave.
The material experience combines the grain of the loom, the softness of cotton yarn and the raised flower details. That layering changes the piece as you approach it: first you read the broad silhouette of the ruana, then the individual work of each floral detail.
It is one size (UT) and currently available in Aqua, Ivory and Negro. It can be worn directly against the skin on a cool night or as the final layer of a look, taking advantage of its open, unisex construction.
Handmade in Mexico by Mayan communities. Slight variations in embroidery, texture or tone are a natural part of each piece.
