The Ruana Espiga is a unisex one-size piece woven in soft 100% cotton yarn using the ancestral backstrap-loom technique. Its open construction lets the textile fall around the body in an enveloping way while preserving freedom of movement without closures or rigid structure.
The entire edge is finished with hand-made stitches. This detail adds a second layer of texture over the woven surface and frames the silhouette of the ruana, remaining visible both at rest and as the piece moves.
The woven cotton feels soft and drapes flexibly. The open scale of the ruana allows it to be worn over other layers or directly against the skin on a cool summer night, preserving the relaxed, tactile character of the piece.
It is one size (UT) and currently offered in Guinda, Rosa, Rojo, Cemento, Ivory and Cobalto. The color range changes the visual intensity without altering the loom construction or the handmade border detail.
Made in Mexico by Mayan communities. Slight irregularities in the weave or stitching are a natural part of the artisanal process.
