The Ruana Tulum is a unisex one-size piece connecting the Argentine heritage of the ruana with the language of Mexican textile art. It is made in woven cotton manta and constructed as an open, enveloping layer, allowing the textile to fall around the body without closures or rigid structure.
The entire perimeter carries a hand-embroidered cross-stitch border. The back adds embroidery in neutral tones, creating a second area of detail and giving the garment presence both from the front and from behind. The embroidery forms perceptible relief over the manta and changes how the surface responds to light.
The current version is finished with tonal leather edging and a small frayed detail. This combination brings several sensations into one piece: the flexibility of woven manta, raised embroidered thread, the firmer leather edge and the softer irregularity of frayed fibers.
It is one size (UT) and currently available in Black, Ivory and Cemento. Its open construction allows it to be layered over different garments or worn directly against the skin when the temperature drops slightly, while preserving freedom of movement.
Made in Mexico by Mayan communities. Each piece may show small differences in embroidery, texture or color that belong naturally to artisanal work.
